Step back in time with a stay at Camping Village Zrmanja – this top site teetering above the Zrmanja river canyon was built in the traditional Croatian style by a family who wanted to welcome people back to their region after the country’s 1990s war with Bosnia.
Placed at the edge of the Kruševo hamlet of Drage in a rural setting, a 10-minute drive from Obrovac town, the park focuses on giving culturally minded folk an authentic experience while in the northern Dalmatia region of Bukovica.
Adventurers are also sorted here – the site’s a 35-minute drive from Paklenica National Park and thrill-seeking expeditions like kayaking and rafting tours, horse riding and jeep safaris are a breeze to source. There’s also hiking and caving to be had around spots like the towering Tulove Grede peak (40 minutes), plus bike rental is organised on base.
And if you simply want to rest in the park’s tree-lined grounds? That’s covered too as a swimming pool is on site for spending slow days floating about in the water while the tiddlers are in the kids’ club. The restaurant serves traditional Croatian cuisine, along with hosting cheese, brandy and wine tastings, so finding eats is also easy.
