The setting:
Located only 25 km from Porto, Braga or Guimarães, (quite good train connections from the local stations) the site is extremely quite with absolute silence, except for the natural water streams and wildlife. Situated in a montain top, it’s possible, on a clean day, to see the sea from the garden.
The spots:
There are two main spots to stay. A flat garden, covered in grass and a forest area, with lots of shade. Access is easy for cars and small motorhomes. Too long caravans may have some trouble with the gate.
The sanitary facilities:
There is a complete bathroom, with shower and hot water inside the old barn which is open 24h.
The amenities:
The barn serves as a room for all kinds of activities. Electricity is easily reached and extension cords can be provided (although these are limited in number). There is a refrigerator and a barbeque available too.
There is also free Wi-Fi access in the main house.
The activities:
During the year there are several activities at the farm, mainly linked to agriculture and culinary.
Outside the farm, within a small walking distance, you can find a horse riding school, several well marked trails, water falls, a catolic sanctuary with magnificent views and the ruins of an ancient (pre-roman) human settlement.
Within 30 minutes you can reach cities like Oporto, Guimarães or Braga, all with lots to offer.
Other things:
We welcome families and there is also a children playground.
We are also Land Rover enthusiasts and run a 4×4 driving experience.
We can also arrange private tours in the Douro Valley, where you can go right into the vineyards. These tours can be designed according to your desires (meals, wine tastings, duration) and budget. ;). This is paid on site depending on the tour.
There are not many rules on site other than those mandatory from common sense, that is, we expect every guest to leave the ground at least in the same condition they found it.
Dogs / pets must be kept on a leach at all times.
There are lots of space and we are very keen on the privacy of our guests. A reasonable distance must be observed between guests, unless there are in the same group and choose to set camp as such.
Smoking is allowed on the outside (not inside the barn and bathroom) but be very careful (specially on hotter days) as any distraction might cause a fire.
Camp fires are not allowed during the summer months, but special places for BBQ are available.
