Begin your tour with a visit to the magnificent Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque (closed on Fridays), renowned for its unique Islamic architecture. Next, drive through the Ministries area and pause for photos or souvenir shopping in the prestigious Shatti District. Proceed past the newly built Royal Opera House, a reflection of contemporary Omani architecture, with a seating capacity of 1,100, inspired by the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said’s love for classical music and arts. Drive by Qurum Corniche, a popular evening promenade for Muscat families, and then explore the traditional Mutrah Souk for souvenirs. Discover Oman’s culture, tradition, and history at the local Museum, and enjoy a stroll to view the Al Alam Palace, the residence of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, flanked by Fort Jalali and Fort Mirani.

Please note: Women must be fully covered from head to ankles (excluding the face) and men should wear long trousers to enter the Grand Mosque.

Continue to Wadi Shab, meaning ‘wadi between the cliffs,’ where you can optionally enjoy a walk through the wadi—walking shoes are strongly recommended. As you ascend the wadi, you’ll encounter beautiful pools, perfect for a refreshing swim.

Next, visit Sur, a town renowned for its historical trading significance and its Dhow Building Yard. The picturesque sheltered lagoon, with Sur’s white houses and traditional dhows, offers a captivating view.

Arrive in the afternoon at Ras Al Jinz, where you can relax before dinner. Afterward, embark on an evening turtle-watching excursion, observing turtles laying their eggs—a truly memorable experience.

Note: Entry fees to the Turtle Reserve are not included (8 OMR per person).

Day 4:

Ras Al Hadd to Wahiba Sands

After breakfast, drive to Wadi Bani Khalid, one of Oman’s most picturesque wadis, known for its year-round flowing water. Here, you can cool off in the green pools or hike up the wadi to discover more pools and waterfalls.

Continue your journey to Wahiba Sands, famous for its golden sand dunes. Experience the local culture by visiting a Bedouin family, and enjoy an exhilarating dune bashing adventure in a 4×4, riding up and down the dunes like a roller coaster. Savor the tranquility of the desert at the desert camp, and don’t miss the opportunity to watch the sunset over the dunes—a truly memorable experience.

Accommodation: Arabian Oryx Camp
Dinner: Provided at the camp

Note: In Wadi Bani Khalid, please wear clothing over your swimsuit when swimming in the natural pools, in respect of the local villagers. This is a government regulation.

Day 5:

Wahiba to Ibra to Nizwa

After enjoying a hearty breakfast, depart from the golden sand dunes and make a stop in Ibra to explore the watchtowers that majestically overlook the villages from the hilltops. Take time to admire the old crumbling houses, notable for their ancient teak wooden doors.

Continue your journey to Nizwa, the former capital of Oman. Explore the Traditional and Craft Souk, perfect for souvenir shopping, before visiting the Nizwa Fort, renowned for its large circular tower. Envision life within the Fort during the 17th century and enjoy the breathtaking views over the extensive plantations from the tower.

En route, explore Wadi Nakhr, a narrow canyon known for its stunning beauty and geological significance, being one of the deepest canyons in the world. While driving into the canyon is challenging, you can enjoy a short, easy trek. The area was once home to a village known for weaving, but it disappeared due to frequent floods.

Continue your journey to the summit of Jebel Shams, or “Sun Mountain,” Oman’s highest peak at 3,009 meters. Experience the surprising cooler temperatures at the top and take in the breathtaking views of the “Grand Canyon.” The dramatic landscape is sure to captivate you.

The ancient houses and a ruined watchtower perched on the mountainside enhance the picturesque scene.

Continue on the breathtaking track to Wadi Bani Awf, offering an exhilarating mountain journey. Deep in Oman’s countryside, many villages retain their traditional charm and rural tranquility.
