The municipal campsite “Kapsali” is located in an exquisite pine grove immediately above the double-twin lovely bay of Kapsali Kythera.

On a Greek island, this is probably one of the most natural, gorgeous, and family-friendly campsites. It sits in the southern section of Kythera, about 500 meters from the center of the beach hamlet of Kapsali and two kilometers from the capital, Chora.

The distance between the island’s main port in Diakofti and the airport is 31 kilometers, while the distance between the island’s three main settlements, Livadi, Potamos, and Agia Pelagia, is six (6), 21 kilometers, and 28 kilometers, respectively.

The camping site is 12 acres in size and is totally surrounded by huge pine trees, forming a lovely grove. The forest continues around the enclosed area and reaches the residences of Kapsali hamlet, making the location extremely appealing.

The campsite is amphitheatrical, and the observer can gaze out over the crystal clear sea of Kapsali’s two bays. The visitor can enjoy a spectacular view of Chora from the campsite, which includes the massive and well-preserved Venetian castle and its surrounding fortified hamlet, Mesa Vourgoum.

September 2022 it’s closed with no sign of opening . It looks lovely but it’s taking business from the hotels (a guess). From Google it seems NO camping in the entire island and cheapest room is 60 euros

Really nice campsite, near to the beach but not too hot. They show movies every night with popcorn and it's great for young kids. Lots of space for tents but the trees offer a nice canopy. The facilities are good however there is no mini mart, but a few nearby. The staff are very helpful and there's lots of leaflets to nearby beaches, caves and walks. Fridges, a freezer and charging ports are available too. Overall an amazing site, with reasonable prices too!

This year 2021 it was closed. A local told me where to sneak through the fence and I put my tent inside for two nights and was able to stay out of the rain. Seems like it was ( and can be again) a great place.

The view of the beach was one to never forget and the atmosphere was homely and humble as every night there was a movie that connected the entire campsite. The ground is great for camping as it is not to hard yet not to soft. The tall pine trees are also great for hammocks as no leaves get in your face. The owner is also very helpful when asking for any information/advice. The facility's are always clean and working. Overall it is an incredible experience and I definitely recommend it.

Old school camping. Totally 90s vibes. Amazing view of the village and the castle of Chora. Personnel was really friendly and helpful. Prices were great (5€ per person, and 5€ for the tent). Walking distance from the village, where you can find a mini market, restaurants, and a surprising variety of different beaches. Definitely recommend, and definitely going to visit again!! 💚
